Beautiful Scenery is Encountered on the Hike to Reed Lakes, Talkeetna Mountains, Alaska*

July 3, 1999

Even in July there is still snow on the Talkeetna Mountain peaks. Most of the hike to Reed Lakes is well above the tree line although there are many tiny tundra plants and lichens.

The chaotic randomness of the boulder-strewn landscape will surely intrigue the artist, photographer, mathematician, among others.

* The Hatcher Pass Road is being improved in 2001 and is closed some of the time. Please check DNR's web site for the Hatcher Pass Road opening schedule.
