Geographic features of the Matanuska Valley, Alaska 

The Matanuska Valley is surrounded by mountains, the Chugach Mountains to the south, the Talkeetna Mountains to the north. Two major river systems drain into the shallow northern end of Knik Arm which is part of Cook Inlet. These are the Matanuska River and the Knik River.
