Holes in things like leaves By the time autumn arrives
the leaves are worn, ragged, tasted or consumed by insects and animals,
stressed by forces of nature like wind, drought and ice, sometimes covered
with dirt and grime from dust storms and pollution, maybe washed clean
by rain. What suggests to an insect to march down a narrow pointy fireweed
leaf and stitch a road of bites? Who was the big hungry insect that dined
on part of a cow parsnip leaf, making the leaf its table, chair and dinner?
